Welcome year 2017! Everyone has been back to school, feeling refreshed and full of energy.
We started our new term by having a special day to celebrate the New Year. We enjoyed many different New Year games from various countries. Of course, we introduced Japanese traditional games, too, like Koma-mawashi or a spinning top, Sugoroku or a board game, etc. As it is becoming less popular to play these traditional games, we would like to take full advantage of this opportunity to hand down the traditional cultures to the next generation.
On the following day, we had another traditional event which is Mochitsuki or Sticky Rice Pounding. The children were so excited to hold a pounder with their small hands and pound the steamed rice. They pounded so well and made it into a nice mochi. The teachers made the shape of Kagami-mochi or the New Year offering from it.
It was such a great thing that we could welcome the new year with everyone being happy and healthy. We would like to wish for another peaceful year for everyone.
２０１７年になりました。ＹＧＫの園児たちは楽しい冬休みをご家族で過ごしたようで、リフレッシュした様子で元気いっぱいに園に戻ってきました。
新学期の幕開けは新年のお祝いから始めました。様々な国のお正月遊びで楽しく過ごしました。もちろん、こままわしや双六等の日本の伝統的なお正月遊びも紹介しました。お正月遊びは、昔に比べてご家庭であまり遊ばれなくなってきているようですので、このような機会を最大限に生かして伝統文化を次世代に伝えていきたいものです。
次の日には、年末年始のもう一つの伝統行事であるお餅つきを行いました。とてもわくわくした様子で、小さな手に杵を握り、蒸したもち米を一所懸命につくことが出来ました。皆がとてもしっかりとついてくれたのでもち米はしっかりきれいなお餅になりました。つき上がったお餅を先生が鏡餅にしてくれました。
こうして皆が健康を守られ、幸せな中で一堂に会して、新たな年を迎えられたことをとても嬉しく思います。皆様にとってこの一年がまた平安な年でありますように。
