Vegetable planting

YMCA Global Kindergarten・野菜植え付け活動報告

At YMCA Global Kindergarten (YGK), an English kindergarten run by Yokohama YMCA, we have dietary education in our school curriculum.
The Cub class (5-6 years old) children had vegetable planting as a part of their dietary education.  Each of them will grow summer vegetables on the rooftop of the YMCA building.  Everyone chose tomatoes as their vegetable this year.

They will observe how their vegetable grows, its structure and composition, and other important and interesting facts.  Eventually, they will enjoy eating their own grown crops.  We hope their tomato plants will grow big and healthy, and produce a lot of yummy tomatoes in summer.

全日英語幼児園・YMCA Global Kindergarten (YGK) では、カリキュラムの一環として食育に取り組んでいます。
カブクラス（年長）の園児たちは、この食育活動の一環として野菜の栽培を行いました。ＹＭＣＡの屋上で、一人一人が自分の夏野菜を栽培します。今年は皆トマトを選びました。
野菜がどのように育っていくか、植物のつくり、その他にも植物について様々学習をしていきます。最終的には、トマトを収穫して美味しくいただきたいと思います。トマトの苗が元気に育って、夏には美味しいトマトがたくさん実りますように！
