At YMCA Global Kindergarten, an English
kindergarten, we are enjoying two-week summer school.
Last weekend, we had an annual summer
festival as part of this special course.
The attendees and teachers prepared several games and a special “Omikoshi”,
or a portable shrine. The children carried
their own-decorated Omikoshi and walked down the hallway to start this special event. Their cute voices echoed throughout the
hallway, saying “Wasshoi, wasshoi!”
As this is a festival for the children, and
by the children, they not only enjoyed the activities but also helped out a
lot! Our little helpers were so serious
in accomplishing their responsibilities!
We cannot close this event without the
traditional Japanese summer activity, watermelon cracking. The watermelon was ripe enough that it split
into two, after only several hits.
Everyone enjoyed eating the sweet watermelon. We do hope everyone had fun.
The second term is just around the
corner. It’s going to be fantastic!
全日制英語幼児園・ＹＭＣＡグローバルキンダーガーテンでは、現在２週間のサマースクールの真っ最中です。
先週末には、この特別コースの一環として、毎年恒例のＹＧＫ夏祭りが行われました。サマースクール参加者と教員が、この日のためにゲームやお神輿を準備しました。子ども達が、自分たちで飾り付けをしたお神輿をかついで登場し、賑やかにお祭りが始まりました。「わっしょい、わっしょい」という元気な掛け声が廊下に響き渡りました。
このお祭りは、子ども達のためのお祭りであると共に、子ども達によるお祭りでもあります。出し物を楽しむだけではなく、お店番のお手伝いも頑張ってくれました。各ゲームコーナーでは、真剣にお仕事に励む子ども達の姿が見られました。
お祭りの締めくくりには、やはり日本の夏の伝承行事、スイカ割りを欠かすことは出来ません。よく熟したスイカは、何回か叩くとぱっかりと二つに割れました。そして、皆でこの甘い美味しいスイカをいただきました。皆様、楽しくお過ごしいただけましたでしょうか。
さあ、２学期はもうすぐそこです。しっかりとエネルギーチャージして、さらにパワーアップしていきましょう。
